Program Description

Obstetrical Dilemmas: Avoiding Medical/Legal Pitfalls is a unique conference specifically designed for obstetricians, labor and delivery nurses, nurse practitioners and certified nurse midwives who constantly face the medically challenging dilemmas associated with caring for and treating high risk pregnant patients, as well as for obstetrical malpractice attorneys and risk managers who must evaluate actual and potential negligence claims. The program will provide practitioners with an in-depth look at current medical and legal issues pertaining to and arising from the practice of OB/GYN and maternal-fetal medicine. A nationally renowned faculty will present up-to-date scientific and medical information to help improve perinatal care through risk management/reduction strategies. Up-to-date clinical topics, such as neonatal encephalopathy, the management of shoulder dystocia, operative vaginal delivery, tocolytic drug use, induction of labor, medication errors, management of multiple gestations, prevention of fetal brain injury, and the hot obstetrical medical-legal issues involved with the management of obesity, diabetes and GBS will be included in the program. Special lectures on communication and documentation, as well as fetal monitoring cases will be presented. Through didactic lectures, faculty panels, and question and answer sessions, participants will gain valuable new insights that will allow them to modify/improve current practice(s) to enhance maternal-fetal healthcare. The conference schedule has been arranged to permit ample time for the sharing of ideas, collegial networking, and relaxation at a tropical get-away destination.
